How Do Blogs Help SEO

If you want to get found on the internet, search engine optimization is a must. You need to learn how to do it and apply the methods to your website.

Search engines like Google love blogs and there are lots of benefits to using blogs for the purpose of SEO.

Below, I will point out some of the ways blogs help SEO both in having a blog and using other people's blogs to your advantage.

Search engines love blogs because they're constantly updated. Google in particular loves fresh content which may come in the form of a blog post and if your blog is comment enabled like most blogs are, this is also a point for getting fresh content also.

So if you have a static website, you need to add a blog for added SEO benefits. Here are some of the ways in which a blog can help SEO.

• Each new post that you add to your blog is a new gateway for visitors to enter your website. Once you target a new search term, keywords that are present in the title and body of your blog post will help you get found in the search engines by persons making searches.
  
  This is why you need to constantly update your site and blogs are great for doing so.
• You comments section as mentioned before is very important. When users add comments, they're adding content and additional keywords related to the discussion that can get you found for other queries you may not have knowingly optimized for.
  
  When I check my stats sometimes, I have some odd queries that I find were present only in the comments section of a particular article.
• Blogs help get your site backlinks. As you add new posts, you're providing the opportunity for your site to get more backlinks. Many popular blogs can get thousands of backlinks with each new post a lot of times without asking.
  
  In addition, when you add new posts all the pages that are linked from the header, footer and sidebar each get one brand new backlinks so each new posts helps build your SEO power.
• Blogs give your website legs. Having the RSS feature helps your blogs content to get syndicated (spread) internet wide which in turn can give you more backlinks.

Just as having a blog can help with your site's SEO, you can also take advantage of other people's blogs.

Here are just a few ways you can extract SEO benefits from other people's blogs.

• Commenting on other blogs can get you links to your website if you fill out the website field. It's important though that you don't look like a spammer when commenting. Some people will comment with "Nice post. Thanks." or some other short meaningless text. This would only get your comment deleted.
  
  Instead you should add value to the post so that your comment gets posted.
  
• Getting a link in the content of a post from another blog can be helpful. You would get a backlink and if that post becomes popular and a lot of links are built to it then it may get a high PageRank. With that post getting a high PageRank, you can be passed some link juice that could boost your own webpage's PageRank and rankings in the search engine.
